The United Bible Societies (UBS) is well known for its long-standing commitment to academic scholarship. In addition to its renowned Translator’s Handbooks series, UBS has, over the past decade, published three thematic handbooks focusing on animals, plants, and material culture (realia) in the Bible:
- All Creatures Great and Small: Living Things in the Bible, by Edward R. Hope (© 2005, United Bible Societies)
- Each According to Its Kind: Plants and Trees in the Bible, by Robert Koops (© 2012, United Bible Societies)
- The Works of Their Hands: Man-made Things in the Bible, by Ray Pritz (© 2009, United Bible Societies)
Electronic versions of these important works have been available in Paratext for many years. To make them more widely accessible, UBS has now released them under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-SA 4.0). The first two titles are already available for download via this link. The third will be released in the coming weeks.
